How to Assemble Your DIY Kids Folding Routine Chart
Setting up your free morning routine flip chart printable is a quick and easy afternoon craft project. Follow these simple steps to transform your flat paper download into a fun, interactive morning game your child will love to use!
Supplies Needed:
- Your free FunFilled Printables daily routine download (at the bottom of the post)
- Heavy white cardstock (65lb or higher is highly recommended!)
- Scissors or a paper trimmer
- Double-sided tape, a glue stick, or hook-and-loop velcro dots
- Optional: A home laminator for maximum durability
Step 1: Print Your Template
Download the digital PDF file from our resource library and print it at 100% scale. For a long-lasting morning habit tracker for non-readers, definitely print on thick cardstock paper so the foldable flaps do not easily bend or tear over time.
Step 2: Score and Fold the Flaps (Optional)
Before making any cuts, locate the horizontal solid line running across the middle of the page. Fold the top section downward along this line to form the base backing. Crease it firmly with your fingernail or a craft bone folder.
Step 3: Cut the Vertical Dash Lines
Take your scissors and carefully cut along each of the vertical dashed lines separating the task pictures. Make sure to stop cutting right when your scissors reach the main fold line. This creates individual folding flaps that can move independently!
Step 4: Add the Completion Stars
Open the flaps up and apply a little bit of glue or tape to stick the reward star icons directly onto the backing sheet, hidden right underneath each chore icon.
Alternatively, you can use small velcro dots so your child can physically snap a star into place when they complete a goal.
Step 5: Hang and Play!
Mount your completed interactive daily routine chart for kids at your child’s eye level using painter’s tape on a bedroom door, hallway wall, or refrigerator.
Every morning, start with all the flaps down. As your toddler or preschooler completes a task—like getting dressed or brushing their teeth—they get the satisfaction of flipping that specific tab up to hide the chore and reveal a bright reward star.
Tips for Printing and Assembly
For best results and long-lasting durability:
- Print on heavy white cardstock to prevent little hands from bending the paper easily.
- Laminate the chart so your child can check off items using a colorful dry-erase marker.
- Display it prominently at eye-level on a bedroom door, hallway, or refrigerator.
